Atlanta may not be one of the biggest cities for theatre, but it does have some well respected theatre companies. I risked breaking a limb to take pictures of them.
We went through a phase where the Peter Pan tent show kept crossing paths with our show. Atlanta was the third time that happened after San Francisco and Costa Mesa.
The Alliance Theatre is a big player in the world of regional theatre. They have recently had some high profile Pre-Broadway engagements of shows like The Color Purple and Disney's Aida (Actually the Alliance production was a disaster. It was the Chicago tryout that eventually got Aida to Broadway.) At the time we played Atlanta, the Alliance had Bring It On the Musical. While not specifically a Broadway tryout, it is no secret that the show hopes to eventually make it there. Sadly I was not able to see it. Although a musical about cheerleaders...maybe it is not so sad that I did not see it.
The Cobb Energy Centre was new to me, and well it looks like it was new to Atlanta too. I had not heard of it until I was looking at the tour schedules of other shows. The Fox Theatre was the touring venue in Atlanta for years, but since NETwork's A Chorus Line tour and the year 3 tour of The Wizard of Oz both played there the Fox must have some competition.
