Van Wezel - The Purple Shell

The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota is the second Frank Lloyd Wright designed theater I have played. The other was the Gammage in Tempe with The Wedding Singer. The interesting thing about his theatres is that on the exterior, the buildings are really cool, but the inside of the theatres are pretty uninteresting. Go figure! Oh and they are unusual colors!

It was pretty hard to get the purple color to come through in the interior photographs. To quote Joey on entering the pit, "Violet, you're turning violet, Violet."

Our crowds in Sarasota were rather lackluster. The Florida weather made up for it though!
