The (Original) Blue Ranger

Grandpa T would have been proud.

Ghost Tour (Well At Least I Did Not Pay!)

I ended my week in Nashville with a group outing to take a ghost tour. Now originally I did not plan to take the ghost tour. It was pretty pricey, and a ghost tour sounded like it could be really hit or miss. Well as it turned out someone who had already paid to take the tour decided not to go so I took the open spot. Thankfully they would not take the money because the tour was so lame! The most interesting part was riding around Nashville in an open air hearse. Basically the tour consisted of being driven around to various places where there have been murders over the years or places where there are supposed hauntings and being told about them. We never got to get out of the hearse and actually walk around these places. Lame! The best part of the tour was the end when the driver dropped us off at The Flying Saucer!

Durham

Our week in Durham turned out to be a great week for us. We essentially sold out our week of Beauty and the Beast at the almost brand new Durham Performing Arts Center. I got to do a bunch of fun extra curricular activities like visiting the Flying Saucer in Raleigh, taking a camera club trip to Duke University, and celebrating the Tony Awards with a company sponsored party. What a great week!

Opening Night In Durham

For some reason (I'm sure the economy, the ultimate scapegoat) we have not had many opening night parties on Beauty and the Beast. Thankfully we had one in Durham, and it was a great party. Good beer, good food, good times! My camera got passed around so I am not responsible for all of these pictures.

DPAC

Having played Raleigh twice before, it was a nice change to play Durham, NC with Beauty and the Beast. Raleigh is not the most interesting city that I have played, nor is the venue really all that great. Since Durham is so close to Raleigh, I am not sure how it is decided which shows play which city. After seeing the venue though, it seems like Durham probably gets the bigger tours over Raleigh. The Durham Performing Arts Center is a brand new (well two years old) beautiful new facility that is right in Downtown Durham close to the baseball stadium and a fun little dining and shopping area. While I tend to prefer older and more ornate theatres, sometimes the more modern ones can be interesting. I particularly liked the glass front of the DPAC. I was also excited to see that they are doing wall tags backstage!

Duke

It is no secret that I like to walk around college campuses, especially if they are campuses with beautiful old architecture. Since Duke is really close to Durham and since I assumed that Duke would have photo-worthy buildings, we took a camera club excursion to Duke. It did not disappoint! Sadly it was a really hot day, but we made up for it by eating gourmet popsicles.
