No visit to Tempe would be complete for me without a trip to the Desert Botanical Garden. Here is the proverbial tip of the iceberg in terms of my pictures:
Without meaning to I ended up in the middle of a free tour lead by a volunteer. She took us around and showed us certain plants including the above. Apparently the queen of the night is a cactus that flowers once a year and only at night. The phenomenon is so interesting that the garden stays open on the night that the queen of the night blooms, and people come by the droves to watch it all happen.
