Sioux Falls By Day

I would never have thought that Sioux Falls would be nearly as interesting as it actually is.

There is some cool old architecture.

Outdoor sculpture.

Old theatres

New and old city hall

Add to that some interesting restaurants and bars, and it was a fun three days.

Sioux Falls By Night

Since I had a rental car, Jeremy and I drove around looking for some things to photograph at night.

We had pulled off the side of the road to photograph this church.  As we were taking pictures the lights on the church shut off.  Coincidence?!?

Onwards to Appleton!

After what was essentially a three week paid vacation in Los Angeles, it was nice to move on and get back to work.  Appleton, Wisconsin was the next stop.

Appleton is a charming small town, but the best reason to visit any town is Wisconsin is the cheese curds!

During the week we were in Appleton, Lawrence University hosted a clarinet day event.  Brett and I took our clarinets and went to hear some college kids play in a master class and to try out some mouthpieces.  If it sounds a little dull, well it was.

I think that this sculpture is supposed to be a horse.

Found Art

On the way from Los Angeles to Long Beach are the Watt's Towers.  They are giant towers made from found objects.  The most interesting thing that I remember about them is that they are so structurally strong that they can withstand hurricane force winds.  I enjoy kitschy roadside attractions so I made a quick stop on the train ride to take a few pictures.
